Student aides provide targeted assistance to students, ensuring that gaps in learning are bridged. Support staff are key to helping struggling learners succeed academically. Their guidance prepares students for high school and the workforce. Small group learning for struggling students has significantly decreased over the past school year due to budget limitations resulting in lost support staff positions. Cross Country Reminder: Parent Meeting 3:30 today in Main Gym. First Practice is Tuesday 3:30-4:30pm.

Schools are becoming a prime target for cybercriminals who want to steal data, extort money, or disrupt education. The number of incidences of usernames and passwords tied to Montana school district employees that were breached increased per employee by about 10% last year. Each of these breaches come with the potential of an attack that can cost a school district time, money, and resources. West Valley Technology Levy will be utilized to help protect student data and privacy through cybersecurity subscriptions and personnel.

A lot has changed for the world, and schools, since 2007. In 2007, West Valley’s student population stood at 390 students. Fast forward to 2024, and that number has nearly doubled, reaching 760 students. As West Valley School’s student population has dramatically increased, the need for additional funding becomes even more critical. A lower student-to-staff ratio is vital for a safer school environment. During critical times like recess and lunch, staff members can closely monitor students. However, West Valley grapples with challenges due to our budget constraints. Maintaining the required 50:1 student-to-staff ratio for outside and lunch monitoring is crucial, but it’s become difficult due to lost staff positions. Currently, staff are often redirected from other essential areas—such as counselors, administrators, and classroom aides—to ensure we meet this necessary ratio. Let’s work together to prioritize safety! A lot has changed in 17 years, but West Valley’s levy amounts have stayed the same. West Valley School District is proposing two levies: a Technology Levy and a General Fund Levy. Together, we can make a difference for our school and our community.
